The Banco de España Library, open to all

Did you know the Banco de España has a library with over 335,000 volumes, that any member of the public can consult?

The Banco de España LibraryAbre en ventana nueva, initially created to provide an internal service to the institution, was opened to the general public in 1980. It is housed in the recently refurbished space that was originally the operations floor.

Interested readers can come to the library on Mondays to Fridays between 08:30 and 17:30. The only requirement is that they should first identify themselves at the building’s main entranceAbre en ventana nueva control point.

The Library specialises in economics, in banking and monetary matters in particular, with a broad interest in the other social sciences.

It has a freely accessible collection of around 4,000 monographs, representing the latest and most in-demand works. It also has almost 100 periodical publications, including dailies, weeklies and specialist journals. The rest of its archived collection is available further to request. Moreover, the computer screens in the reading room can be used to browse a selection of on-line resources (databases, electronic journals, etc.) to which the Library is subscribed.
