Heads up! GLOBAL MONEY WEEK 2026 is almost here

12/03/2026

Next week, from 16 to 22 March, we'll be celebrating the 14th edition of Global Money Week (GMW). Organised by the OECD International Network on Financial Education (OECD/INFEAbre en ventana nueva), this campaign aims to equip young people with the financial knowledge they need to make informed financial decisions, both now and in the future.

This year’s theme is: SMART MONEY TALKS

Talking about money has traditionally been a taboo subject in societies like ours. At home, for example, financial matters have often been considered “grown-up topics” that children should be kept out of. But it's time to change that mindset. Young people should be given the opportunity to become involved in family finances, sensibly and without feeling under pressure. Seeing how households manage their budgets and deal with unexpected expenses can provide invaluable lessons for the day when they have to make their own financial decisions.

The promoters of Spain's Financial Education PlanAbre en ventana nueva have organised a wide range of activities, including workshops and talks taking place across the country.

  • Visits to the schools that won the 2025 Financial Literacy Competition.[AG1]
  • Training sessions at the Banco de España’s headquarters in Madrid and at its branch offices.
  • Training sessions at the CNMV’s offices in Madrid, Bilbao and Barcelona.
  • Initiatives to encourage school participation.
