Financial education
25/01/2021
Today we mark the third International Day of Education, although the official date was yesterday, 24 January (Sunday). The theme of this year’s edition is “Recover and Revitalize Education for the COVID-19 Generation”. Once again, the Banco de España has renewed its commitment to education with new editions of its educational programmes.
Our current programmes include:
- Generation €uro Students’ Award competition
This competition aims to raise awareness of the Eurosystem’s monetary policy and to foster the participation of teachers and students alike in activities linked to economic and financial education. A total of 1,830 upper secondary and intermediate vocational training students took part in the 10th edition of the Generation €uro Students' Award.
- School Financial Education Programme and Financial Literacy Competition
The schools taking part in the School Financial Education Programme have access to the teaching materials created jointly by the National Securities Market Commission and the Banco de España as part of the Financial Education Plan. These materials can be used as best suits the schools’ curricula. The schools can also take part in the Financial Literacy Competition.
In today's economic and social environment, financial education plays a central role in protecting the users of financial services. The education programme aims to improve our students’ financial knowledge and to nurture the skills they will require to optimally address future uncertainties.
Over the years, more than 2,500 schools across Spain have taught financial education in their classrooms. If you are a secondary education or vocational training teacher, there’s still time to register your school for the new editionAbre en ventana nueva.
Registration opened in November and many schools have already signed up both to the School Financial Education Programme and to the Financial Literacy Competition.
