More financial education content in the classroom

26/04/2021

The Banco de España, the CNMV and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation have presented to the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training a proposal to extend the financial literacy education available to primary and secondary school pupils. This milestone comes as part of the cooperation agreement signed on 7 September 2020 between the Banco de España, the CNMV and the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training to develop and extend the Financial Education Plan within the education system.

This proposal has been drawn up at a time when the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training is preparing the school curriculum which will incorporate the implementing regulations of the new education law (Organic Law 3/2020, better known as LOMLOE). The aim is for more children and young people, and starting at an earlier age, to be exposed to financial education, as recommended by the international organisations of which Spain is a member.
