Cheque confirmation fee

A cheque confirmation fee is charged when the individual signing or issuing the cheque asks the bank (usually at the request of the payee) to confirm it, i.e. to guarantee that
there are sufficient funds in the associated account and that the cheque will
be paid. This fee usually represents a percentage of the cheque amount, with a minimum charge per transaction, and is paid by the cheque issuer or drawer.
