12th July: “On this very day, in 1944, the Bretton Woods international monetary conference was taking place”
From 1-22 July 1944 the international monetary conference in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, was staged to establish a new international monetary order. Delegates from all the allied nations of World War II were invited.
On the same day the President of the United States, Franklin D. Roosevelt, announced the Bretton Woods Conference (26 May 1944), the General Council of the Banco de España entrusted its the Research Committee with the drafting of a “special” report about the International Monetary FundAbre en ventana nueva’s project.
