Do you want to find out more about household income and employment?
29/10/2025
Where does household income come from? Why does unemployment exist? How do employment policies affect the labour market?
Understanding the answers to these kinds of questions will help you follow the economic news, but can also help you make better decisions about your personal finances. That is the purpose of the economic education programmeAbre en ventana nueva launched by the Banco de España in 2024. It aims to offer simple and accessible explanations for economic issues that have a direct impact on people’s daily lives and their relationship with the financial system and economic policy.
Alongside existing content on inflation, financial risks and uncertainty, the programme now includes a third module focusing on employment and households’ employment income. These new materials look at where households’ income comes from, including wages, and the basic items on a payslip, among other topics. They also explore the factors that influence wage-setting, job creation and unemployment, as well as some of the economic policies linked to the labour market.
The Banco de España’s economic education programmeAbre en ventana nueva is an ongoing project, with new content on other topics of general interest to be added over time.
